Truett-Hurst Petite Sirah 2010

Truett-Hurst Winery is located in our favorite wine region: Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma. The winery was recommended to us by another winery so we decided to drop in. We are super happy we did. This place is so pretty.

The tasting room is modern with couches to lounge on. Outside there’s a nice outdoor patio with comfy patio furniture. Past the patio is one of the best vegetable gardens I’ve seen at a winery yet. They were growing all sorts of squash, tomatoes, corn, pumpkins and yummy strawberries.

And that’s not all! Further down the path, you come upon the most beautiful stream and next to it are three or four areas with red adirondack chairs and tables where you can picnic or nap – whichever is your pleasure. Apparently at the right time of year salmon can be seen spawning in the stream too.

During our recent trip to Sonoma, we determined Truett-Hurst to be the most charming and relaxing vineyard in Napa/Sonoma wine country. We highly recommend dropping by if you’re in the area. And the wine is worth it.

We bought a bottle of their 2010 Burning Man, Petite Sirah and here’s what we think:

Jane Says

The Truett-Hurst Petite Sirah smells of chocolate, with hints of pepper. This is a full-bodied wine that will coat your mouth with richness. It almost tastes like dessert in your mouth. It’s a great wine to sit back and savor.

3.5 out of 5 stars

Steve Says

This old vine Petit Sirah shows a wonderful deep garnet color along with a good balance of fruit and dryness. It exhibits a nice medium to full body without being too big or overly extracted. You’ll find a pleasing tannic kick on the finish as well.
