We have a love affair officially happening with Tablas Creek Vineyard in Paso Robles, CA. We recently attended the San Luis Obispo Film Festival and decided to drive up into Paso Robles for the day. You can’t be that close to Paso (it’s about 30 mins north of San Luis Obispo) and not go.
Our first stop was the Tablas Creek Vineyard tasting room. It’s located on the West side of Paso, amidst lots of trees and winding roads – an absolutely gorgeous drive. The co-owners also have a winery in Chateauneuf du Pape in France. They chose the Paso Robles region for a sister winery due to the similarities in the terroir – the limestone, climate and terrain in this part of Paso mirror the Chateauneuf du Pape region.
We have fond memories of the first time we tasted the Tablas Creek wines. We entered a packed tasting room and out of nowhere a person asked us in a thick French accent if we were there for a tasting. Of course we were! And he proceeded to lead us to the barrel room for a private tasting. Ever since, we have always gone out of our way to visit the Tablas Creek tasting room whenever we are in Paso. And now that we are members, we have even more of a reason to stop by and bring our friends. We can’t wait to go back!
Here are some pics from our recent visit. We went there with our friend Mary and we both ended up joining the membership. Yum!
