We were introduced to the Marietta Angeli Cuvee quite by accident. A coworker offered it as a subtle bribe to Jane to make up for a chocolate misshap at the Paris airport. He claimed that both him and his wife really enjoy it as their go-to bottle. We decided to open it up tonight.

This is a really interesting bottle of wine. It starts out with a beautiful inky red color (which I’m sure your tired of me gushing about). Initially, the mouthfeel makes you say wow, this is rich. But give it a little time in your mouth and it smoothes out and the body ends up being almost light. I’m not talking your average pinot light but quite light given the deep dark alluring color. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that it has a long finish but it surprises you and shows just a bit of tannic bite and a subtle hint of dryness.

I noticed immediately that it is from Alexander Valley and fell in love. I’m a romantic for Alexander Valley, which is near Dry Creek Valley (our favorite wine region). When I took a sip of this wine, I noticed that it seemed sweet but not sickly sweet or overly jammy. It was lovely with hints of lavender and graphite. I made eggs and homemade turkey sausage for dinner and it went well with it. I think it’s a nice bottle for dinners that aren’t too light or too heavy. I highly recommend it for those who love sweeter, jammier wines. Thanks for the bottle Suki! It was lovely! And definitely made up for the chocolate misshap – ha!

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. A fantastic read. I will definitely be back.
I’m extremely inspired together with your writing talents and also with the format in your blog. Is that this a paid topic or did you customize it your self? Anyway keep up the nice quality writing, it is uncommon to peer a nice blog like this one nowadays..
